The Problem of the Union of Opposites is an installation of paintings, sculptures, and objects made from resin-coated and varnished organic materials. Flowers, branches, fruits, roots, bones, insects, natural cotton, snails and shells, stones, feathers, chocolate, mushrooms, and found debris shape the nature of the pieces.
In this exhibition, Lola works following the book AION by Carl Gustav Jung, published in 1951. From the parallelism between the archetype of the figure of Christ and the symbolism of Pisces, based on the coincidences and archetypal readings of these two symbols, she delves into the theory in which she develops the Egos or Eras under the change of the constellations, which align with the sun and a vernal point.
Each Ego, after reaching 2,000 years of age, begins a process of engorgement with respect to the previous one, creating a new Ego that is almost completely opposed to the previous one. It's a kind of opposite reflection, or game of Being and Shadow, in which one cyclically rises above the other.
Through the assembly of organic materials and resin, it exemplifies a sample of New Mutant Species from an Age that has already begun to rise, The Age of Aquarius.
