Sad Threads is Emmanuel Franco 's first solo exhibition at the Selvanegra gallery. It is composed of a series of 13 inks on paper produced during 2024. The drawings distort themes stemming from childhood, personal conflicts, paranoia, and fears, and are the result of a warped desire to explore the practice of drawing from a visceral yet carefree perspective. In the curator's words: " Emmanuel's drawings are like his Kronos, like Witold Gombrowicz's when the line or the sentence is cut or interrupted, and finds its own limit to reach the work, or also the choppy recitation of a prayer in church, preliminary forms that are gradually being assembled, surfaces that are once like dough models: less and more water, less and more flour. A ruler for the memory of the days, an object that a family can calmly revolve around: a cheesy object ."
